Finders Keepers of Erie Celebrated 2 Years!

Finders Keepers of Erie celebrated 2 years! That’s right we have officially been in business for 2 years! It’s hard to believe that just a little over 2 years ago mom and I started looking for a place to open a consignment shop. We found that perfect location and opened the doors on April 12, 2014. We have come a long way in the past 2 years. We have gained a great customer base with many that return weekly just to see what new items we have gotten in! We have also gained a great consignor base as well. We now have over 200 consignors and many of them bring in new items throughout the week. This makes it so that “Every Day is a New Day at Finders Keepers!” We love the variety of items that come through the door and we never know what we will be getting in. One day we may get home decor items and the next day kitchen items, sometimes 1 box full and others a car full. There is never a dull moment at the shop.
In our 2 years we have gained quite the following on Facebook. We have over 1,000 followers and we try to post something a few times a week. Right now we have a pet photo contest going on that people are having a fun time with. We post things on our page that we think our customers will really like or will be able to relate to. We have also started a “Group Page” under Finders Keepers of Erie Consignments and we are able to sell things through the group page. If you would like to join the group please click here. Anyone in our group is sure to see everything we post as Facebook does not limit this page like they do our business page. So, be sure to like us on Facebook at WWW.Facebook.com/Finderskeepersoferie if you haven’t already!
We are so proud of how far we have come, and we are constantly getting compliments! One of the main compliments we get is on how clean and organized our shop is. I’m not sure about you but there is nothing worse than walking into a second hand shop and either being scared to touch anything or feeling claustrophobic and wanting to high tail it out of there. Mom and I pride ourselves on this one! We refuse to take in any item that has a smell, especially if it smells like it has been stored in a musty basement for the past 10 years. Organization is something that is next to impossible to do in our line of business when different items are coming in every day. BUT, we try! One of our rooms is dedicated to all vintage sports memorabilia, baseball cards, Nascar, comics and vintage video game systems. Another room has all of our kitchenware and misc. items. Our main room has jewelry, Avon and nice glassware. Furniture and small showcase items in yet another. We may look small from the outside but once you open the door you can actually see how big our shop really is! We try and take advantage of every space we can so you definitely have to look up and down when you come in. Most people walk through twice because the first time through you are bound to miss something.
Another compliment we have gotten a lot in the past few months is how friendly we are. I have been in several lines of customer service in my 25 years of working and my mom has been doing it longer. Mom always taught me to “treat someone the way you would want to be treated” and I have taken that philosophy to heart. I try my best to greet everyone with a hello and a smile, you never know what kind of day someone is having so your smile and kindness might be exactly what they needed!
We are so passionate about our business and hope that you all continue to show us the support you have for the past 2 years. We hope to be here at least another 20! Thank you for taking the time to read my new blog and feel free to reach out to me at any time. You can reach me at: Jennifer@FindersKeepersOfErie
